This course provides an introduction to real property and different interests and dealings in land that are recognised in South Australia. You will learn about estates in land and the different interests in land that can be registered, including a mortgage,lease, encumbrance, easement, caveat and a lien.

Practical Skills 2: Opening, Managing and Closing a File

Conveyancing is a process. Opening, managing and closing a client file is integral to this process. This course considers the steps a conveyancer must take when acting for a party to a conveyancing transaction, from opening through to closing a client file.

Practical Skills 9: Introduction to Form 1

This course introduces students to the Form 1. This is a statement made pursuant to s. 7 of the Land and Business (Sale and Conveyancing) Act 1994 (SA). When a contract for the sale of land is made this form must be given by the vendor of land to the purchaser at least 10 clear days before settlement. This course examines the contents of the Form 1 and its relationship to the rights of the purchaser to cool off.

'Risk' refers to the possibility of a loss occurring that could have an adverse effect on a conveyancing business. This course deals with 'risk management' which is about identifying potential risks and implementing behaviours and processes to reduce the possibility of such events occurring.

This course will explain common cyber security threats that may impact a conveyancer's business and provide some tips for becoming cyber security aware and protecting your sensitive information.

GST Withholding Measure

This course provides details of the Goods and Services Tax withholding measure that will apply to certain contracts for the sale or lease of land entered on or after 1 July 2018.

The background to the measure will be discussed, and how this will effect both the vendor and the purchaser of property.

Conveyancers acting for either the vendor or purchaser of property need to be aware of these requirements as certain action may need to be taken to comply with the requirements. This course details these requirements.
